Catching Up:
I remember waking up at Chris' house one morning and playing around with this chord progression over and over. I had this melody in my head and a few words to go with it but I needed to fill in some gaps. I was looking for a word that rhymed with 'you' but that wasn't cliché or overused. After talking with a friend who was also just waking up about the song writing process and about how close I was to this word it came to me. 'Overdue' was the perfect set up word for the tag line "It's really really nice just to see you". I was writing the song because I was meeting up with an old friend I hadn't seen in years and it felt nice to be catching up. Also, we all talked about an opening song for the album and Catching Up made the most sense because by the time Colours of the Sun gets released it will have been a year and a half and the message is simple: It's nice to see our friends and fans again after a long time away.
